I just got approve from a eat/brunch with two friends I've known for nearly 15 years now. They are both married and both have two children. So we met up at L's place. We were talking. L and I hadn't seen each other in months so she wanted to know how I was doing what was going on in my life... D (my other friend) kept on interrupting bringing up topics such as schoool kids etc. You know the things women with children generally talk about. It really began to displease me. Is there not anything else people can talk about? Is the fact that I'm not marrie and don't have kids make my existance and my life somehow less important and not worth talking about? I felt like screaming because right now all I do want is to be heard and talk about what is going on in my life... I want to be heard and understood and isn't that what friends are for afterall?I ended up making plans to have lunch with L during the week at least she is interested. She may just have nothing else to talk about. Kids take up time one might otherwise pay reading or doing interesting story-producing activities. ;) Or she could just be boring. What did she talk about *before* kids?It's funny because back when I was childless and my female friends had kids and were staying home. I had the feeling they were a bit resentful I had stuff to talk about and that they were hungry to feel relevant to the world.
